How to use the hashtag to help promote PATA Micronesia:
#blessed, #happy, #pacific, #unity…These are examples of hashtags that promote the content by using the pound (#) symbol. Hashtags, on social media, indicate that a piece of content relates to a specific topic, feeling, or thought. It helps make photos, destinations, restaurants, hotels, cities, etc. more discoverable in platform searches such as Facebook or Instagram. This effectively reaches more people.

By using #’s in your social media posts you can direct people to your destination and isolate a thought or feeling. As members of the PATA Micronesia Chapter, it would be beneficial to all our destinations to include the #PATAMicronesia tag in all their posts. This way we can all benefit as a region and as a chapter.

You can also tag the specific sights and sounds of your destination. Here are some basics when you and your teams post:
 
  • Start with # but do not include spaces between words
  • Don’t string too many words together, people need to remember these short words
  • Be specific. Use #PalauBlue instead of #BlueOcean or #Kosraesunsets instead of #Sunsets.
  • Limit the number of hashtags you use. More isn’t always better.
 

Using hashtags will build brand awareness and help your target audience find you. Try it out but start with using the #PATAMicronesia tag in all your posts.
